“Eight families sought refuge here.” These words echo as we stand before Nhà thờ Bình Thuận. This church stands as a testament to faith and resilience. It is a beacon in Bình Tân district of Ho Chi Minh City.

Nhà thờ Bình Thuận began humbly. In 1966 Father Đaminh Hoàng Duy Thanh led a group. These Catholics came from Thượng Phúc, Lạc An and Tân Uyên. They journeyed from Bình Dương to this area. It was then known as Ấp Bình Thuận. This was a part of Gia định province. They sought to establish a new community.

They built a simple church. It provided a space for prayer and worship. But Father Thanh had to return to Giáo Phận Phú Cường. This left the community feeling orphaned. Nhà thờ Bình Thuận faced uncertainty.

From 1969 to 1975 Father Đaminh Bùi Quang Tuyến took over. He built a new residence and renovated the church. The original structure had deteriorated. Nhà thờ Bình Thuận was revitalized under his care.

Other priests followed. Father Giuse Mai Thành Hân served in 1976. Then Father Hạt Trưởng Đaminh Vũ Nguyên Thiều.

A significant chapter began in 1979. Father Anphongso Nguyễn Công Phương became the pastor. In 1995 he initiated the construction of a new church. This marked a turning point for Nhà thờ Bình Thuận.

In 2001 Đức Hồng Y appointed Father Đaminh Nguyễn Văn Minh. He assisted the parish and established religious groups. Nhà thờ Bình Thuận grew stronger with his contributions.

From 2003 to 2007 Father Andrê Trần Minh Thông renovated the parish facilities. He built a community center and classrooms. Nhà thờ Bình Thuận expanded its outreach.

In 2007 Father Giuse Nguyễn Văn Thanh became the pastor. Father Giuse Nguyễn Văn Long assisted him. The parish grew. They constructed a Resurrection House and a Marian grotto. They renovated the Blessed Sacrament chapel and built statues. In 2009 they renovated the church. Nhà thờ Bình Thuận became what we see today.

In 2010 Father Giuse Lê Ngọc Đa became an assistant priest. He focused on unifying the parish. Nhà thờ Bình Thuận continues to evolve.

The early settlers faced many challenges. Establishing a community in this area was difficult. They persevered and created a home for future generations.

Today Nhà thờ Bình Thuận is one of the largest parishes in the city. It boasts a grand campus. The church has undergone constant renovations. It has a church a chapel and meeting halls.

The parish has many active groups. There are catechism classes and dedicated families. There are also Dominican and Sacred Heart groups. The Legion of Mary also operates here.

Five choirs enhance the worship experience. Committees manage various aspects of parish life. These include healthcare and social assistance. They also oversee order liturgical celebrations and communications.

Confessions are heard after daily Masses. Eucharistic Adoration takes place regularly. The parish also has a dedicated chapel for continuous adoration.

Despite its rapid growth Nhà thờ Bình Thuận faces challenges. Managing a large parish requires careful organization. The workload is significant for the leaders and council.

With the number of churchgoers the services have spilled outside. People sit beyond the walls to worship. Just imagine the scene during Christmas or Easter.

Nhà thờ Bình Thuận stands as a testament. It shows the strength of faith. It embodies the spirit of community. It reminds us of its humble beginnings. It inspires us with its vibrant present.
