“Did you notice the unique architecture?” I ask. This is Nhà thờ Bình Hòa. It stands as a testament to faith and resilience.

Nhà thờ Bình Hòa has a rich history. Its story began with a group of Catholic migrants. They came from Lái Thiêu. These migrants built a simple church. It used salvaged materials. The first Nhà thờ Bình Hòa was made of old frames and metal sheets.

In 1978 the Bishop encouraged the community. Father Đaminh Hoàng Duy Thanh led the construction. They built the first proper Nhà thờ Bình Hòa. A nearby convent for the Thánh Phaolô sisters was also built.

However conflict and time took their toll. The first Nhà thờ Bình Hòa collapsed in 1987. Father Tôma Phan Minh Chánh moved services to the old parish house.

Father Micae Nguyễn Văn Minh then took over. He was followed by Father Phêru00f4 Lê Văn Ngọc. In 1996 Father Titô Nguyễn Minh Nhường arrived. He repaired the old parish house for worship. By 1999 he renovated the church’s facade.

Father Phaolô Phạm Quốc Túy became the pastor in 1999. He converted the old kitchen into living quarters. In 2001 two statues were completed. These were of Đức Mẹ and Thánh Giuse.

Between 2002 and 2003 two more monuments were erected. These honored Đức Mẹ Hoa Hồng and Thánh Giuse. By 2010 Father Vinhsơn Kiều Duy Tân became the assistant pastor.

Despite renovations Nhà thờ Bình Hòa remained small. It struggled to accommodate the growing number of workers. Many were from the VISIP industrial park. On May 1 2012 the parish laid the first stone for a new church.

After nearly four years Nhà thờ Giáo xứ Bình Hòa was completed. On April 16 2016 the church was dedicated. It was named Thánh Đường Đức Mẹ Hồn Xác Lên Trời.

Nhà thờ Bình Hòa stands not just as a building. It represents the enduring spirit of its community. It embodies their faith hope and perseverance. A beacon of spirituality in a bustling city.
