Let’s delve into the story of New York Cho Dae Church. It began as the Manhattan Young Adult Ministry of NJ Chodae Church in 2006. The location was King’s College, inside the iconic Empire State Building. Imagine services held within those historic walls.
In 2007, Pastor Inhyun Ryu took the helm of the Young Adult Ministry. The church experienced relocation in 2008 to PS11 William T. Harris Elementary School. The same year also marked the start of the College Ministry.
2009 was a pivotal year. “New Frontier Church” was established. It was registered as a religious corporation in New York City. A missionary center called Vision Center opened its doors. Wednesday evening and early morning services began at 29 W 30th St.
The following year, in 2010, NJ Chodae Church planted New Frontier Church as a stand-alone entity. The inaugural service marked a new chapter. A Mustard Seed Offering launched to support the Kingdom Professional Center in NYC. The church held a prayer walking event called Cross the Way. They also established the C4K ministry and Chun-Koom-Ah Sunday School program.
The church’s journey continued through several relocations and expansions. They moved to Sutton Place, then back to PS11. The Vision Center found a new site. The church expanded its services to different locations like Columbus Campus and Chelsea Campus.
New York Cho Dae Church also demonstrated a strong commitment to missions. They commissioned a missionary to China in 2011. They hosted a Business as Mission conference. They showed compassion by supporting tribes in Uganda.
Through changes, New York Cho Dae Church remained steadfast. It joined the Korean American Presbyterian Church in 2014. They celebrated their 5th anniversary with an Open Word Conference in 2015. New elders were installed, and they expanded their reach through compassion initiatives.
Today, New York Cho Dae Church stands as a beacon of faith. Its history reflects a dedication to community, growth, and service. It continues to evolve while staying true to its founding principles.
