The New Testament Missionary Baptist Church is a special group. They are united by Jesus and guided by the Holy Spirit. Their main goal is to worship God. They also want to share Jesus’s message with everyone in the city and county. The church wants to help the weak. Its aim is to reach out to all people and save some. The church’s motto is from Matthew 18:20. It reminds them that Jesus is present when they gather.
Pastor Bernard A. Willis Jr. leads the congregation. Many call him the “gentle giant.” He and his wife, Jacqueline, have two children. Rev. Willis grew up in San Antonio. He was a member of Jacob’s Chapel United Methodist Church. He found Christ early in life.
Bernard and Jacqueline sought a church home after marrying. They knew Christ was essential for their marriage. In 1981 they attended a watch night service at Bethany First Baptist Church. Later they joined Bethany. Bernie was baptized in 1982. In 1988 he became a Deacon. In 1992 he felt called to ministry.
In 1998 New Testament invited him to preach. After prayer, they asked Rev. Willis to be their pastor. Looking back, Rev. Willis sees God preparing him. He is thankful for those who guided him.
New Testament Missionary Baptist Church offers many services. Sunday School starts at 9:30 a.m. Worship Service begins at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday Bible Study is at 7:00 p.m. Friday Night Brotherhood & Discipleship Training also starts at 7:00 p.m. Saturday Morning Youth Hour of Power is at 11:00 a.m.
