Considering what’s happened over the last couple of years, New Life Orthodox Presbyterian Church has been more and more identified with political parties. People outside the church view Christianity and the gospel as very distorted or confused. It’s a confusing time for people.
New Life Presbyterian Church of La Jolla desires to reflect the preeminence of Christ. It does this through the power of the Holy Spirit unto the glory of God the Father. The church wants to bring glory to God by enjoying Him forever. New Life wants to be part of a worldwide movement. This movement is working to restore the world through Christ. It spreads the good news about Him and living out His new life.
The Orthodox Presbyterian Church has churches in many communities throughout the United States. They are called to show God’s love and the power of Christ’s message of restoration. This is for a society that is burned out from sin, empty materialism, and shattered relationships. New Life Presbyterian Church cares about people. It shows concern for everyone especially the poor and victims of catastrophes.
The mission of New Life Orthodox Presbyterian Church is threefold. It worships the God of the gospels. It grows in grace together as a church. It communicates the changeless Christ to the culture.
They highlight the importance and primacy of worship. The members gather every Sunday as one body in corporate worship. They also see other aspects of worship. These are private and family worship. To grow in grace together as a church speaks to the discipleship aspect of their people. They grow like a flower. It’s organic with growth nourishing and nurturing the faith. They also want to grow together as a church so they’re not individuals.
New Life Orthodox Presbyterian Church communicates the changeless Christ to the culture through outreach. This includes communicating verbally to others. It also means going out to the world as missionaries. Wherever they go around the globe, they’re heralds of the gospel. They communicate that Christ is the same today, yesterday and forever to the changing world.
New Life believes in eternal life. Jesus is the only way to go to heaven. People must place their trust in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. Salvation is a free gift of God they get through faith. It’s not by works or by being good enough. It’s not based on what people have done. It’s based on the work and righteousness of Jesus. It’s His life for my life and His death for my death.
Jesus lived the life we could not live. He died the death we deserved. When God says, “Why should I let you in?” it’s not because of us. It’s because of the work of His son Jesus His life, death, resurrection, and ascension. That’s the only way by faith alone. Hell is for everyone who has heard and refused to believe. It is also for everyone who has never heard. That’s why there is such an urgency for missions.
