New Life Christian Center’s story began with a vision. Many years ago, Pastor Vaughn was on a military mission in Egypt. God revealed Himself to him in a vision. The vision showed Pastor Vaughn that he was to come to San Antonio, Texas.
Pastor Vaughn followed this calling. He brought his family from Germany to San Antonio. New Life Christian Center was founded in 1987. It first began as a Bible study in the Vaughn’s home. The church family then started holding services at the Kelly Air Force Base Chapel. The ministry grew quickly. A storefront building was purchased at 7428-D SW Military Dr. On February 23, 1992, New Life Christian Center opened its current sanctuary.
The ministry has prospered. It is located in what was once a depressed part of southwest San Antonio. Its multimillion-dollar facilities are visible to over 60,000 motorists a day on US Interstate 90 West. New Life is one of the largest multicultural churches in South Texas. The church has increased its influence through community outreach. These include education and prison outreach. New Life Ministries also offers marriage counseling. They have youth, substance abuse, and social programs. These programs are key to community revitalization.
New Life is known worldwide for its multicultural congregation. It is also known for community involvement. New Life Ministries is active locally and internationally. You will find a strong love for all people.
New Life offers many ministries. These include Pastoral Ministry. Pastors Green and Woolery offer Christian service. They seek to be friends and shepherds. They visit hospitals and conduct wedding ceremonies. The Pastors also provide counseling and conduct funerals.

Dr. LaSalle and Portia Vaughn founded New Life Christian Center in 1987. Dr. Vaughn is a retired USAF officer. He is also an author, speaker, and pastor. Portia Vaughn mentors women and leads a prayer team. Together, they have been married for over 55 years.
