NIST International School, nestled in Bangkok’s Watthana District, opened its doors on August 13, 1992. It was a dream realized by parents, teachers, and students with the support of the United Nations. They envisioned a school unbound by national curricula, a truly international learning environment. NIST International School started with a student body of 502, a diverse group eager to embrace this new approach to education. In 1992, NIST International School became Thailand’s first full International Baccalaureate World School. By 1999, it offered all three IB programs: Primary Years, Middle Years, and Diploma. This framework, centered on inquiry and exploration, resonated perfectly with the school’s philosophy. The campus itself began a transformation in 2002, with new facilities like the Early Years Centre and Sports Complex opening in the following years. The school continues to evolve. In 2023, NIST International School embarked on a five-year strategic plan. This plan addresses future needs, focusing on learning spaces, safety, and efficiency. Today, NIST International School is home to over 1,800 students representing over 75 nationalities. This diversity isn’t limited to the student body. The teachers also bring a wealth of international experience, most having taught in an average of three other countries before joining NIST. The school’s commitment to global citizenship is woven into every aspect of its being, from academics to extracurricular activities.
