“Two are better than one…” The words of the preacher resonated through the air as we stood outside the New Faith Baptist Church Northeast. This church, more than just a place of worship, is a testament to the strength of community and the power of faith in Northeast Houston. It all started in 2020, amidst the uncertainties of the COVID-19 crisis. A group of pastors came together, united in their desire to provide comfort and support to their community. They called themselves the “Minister’s Coalition of Harris County and Vicinity.” The New Faith Baptist Church Northeast became their official headquarters. From there, they organized food distributions, community clean-ups, and even flood preparedness initiatives. Their efforts continue to this day, proving that even in the face of adversity, the power of community can prevail. You may not see the visible signs of their impact, but the spirit of togetherness and resilience is strong here. What you do see is a church with a mission, a church that reflects the spirit of its pastor M.D Morrison Sr., and a community that embraces its faith with both joy and action.
