Sixty-thousand cheering fans a sea of green and white. That’s what the old Douglas Park must have felt like. But that’s a memory. A faded photograph. Today we stand before New Douglas Park.

New Douglas Park opened in 2001. It replaced the old Douglas Park Hamilton Academical’s home since 1888. The old ground held 28690 fans for a Hearts match. A record. The new stadium isn’t quite as large. It holds 6018. It boasts two main stands initially. One beside the pitch the other behind the goal. Temporary bleachers were later added.

Initially known as The Ballast Stadium it later became SuperSeal Stadium. A sponsorship deal. The stadium’s design is unique. The stands are at right angles to each other. A clever arrangement. It even had a section designed to keep rival fans apart. A thoughtful touch in its own way.

Imagine the atmosphere here. The roar of the crowd. The thud of the ball. The tension. The excitement. A pivotal moment in a match against Celtic or Rangers. A packed house. Every seat filled. The energy is palpable. It is said to have a more intimate feel than many larger stadiums. The players feel the pressure. The fans feel it too.

Today New Douglas Park stands as a testament to Hamilton Academical. It is a modern stadium. It has seen its share of victories and defeats. It has witnessed thrilling matches. It is a vital part of Hamilton’s sporting heritage. It is a place of passion. A place where memories are made.

Step inside. Feel the history. Experience the game. New Douglas Park. A stadium with its own story to tell.
