“Leading with love” is not just a motto here. It is the very foundation of New Dawn Baptist Church. Founded in 2007, New Dawn Baptist Church emerged from the New Estate Baptist Church in Surulere Lagos. It began as a small group. They were closely knit and met in Victoria Island.
New Dawn Baptist Church’s early days saw dedicated members from Ikoyi Home Fellowship joining its ranks. Some were excited. Others felt indifferent. Some were hesitant to leave their old church. Yet, they all came together to expand God’s kingdom.
The church grew and developed various ministries. There were thirty Ministries, Departments, and Committees (MDCs). They included Sunday School and Prayer groups. There were also groups for Men, Women, and Youths. Each played a vital role. New Dawn Baptist Church also planted a church on the Peninsula.
In 2010, ATO Architects was invited to design a mixed-use facility. The firm participated in a design competition. It was for the church facility. The space covered 3000 square meters. ATO’s design won first prize.
The design was inspired by the church’s name itself. It was inspired by New Dawn. The main auditorium was designed like a budding flower. The flower opens to full life. It is anchored on a firm foundation. This represents the word of God. The curvilinear roof underscores this concept. Other buildings echoed this theme.
The east face of the church auditorium featured large stained-glass windows. These windows projected an image. It connected to the traditional architectural style of the Middle Ages.
New Dawn Baptist Church offers Sunday services from 8 am to 11 am. Midweek services occur every Wednesday from 6:30 pm to 8 pm. The church encourages everyone to get involved. There are ministries for service, worship, and outreach.
