Right here, in the heart of Houston, this church stands as a testament to faith, resilience, and the power of community. The New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church was founded in 1996 by Reverend Larry T. Williams, a man driven by a vision to create a spiritual haven grounded in biblical doctrine and Christ-centered living. What began as a small, devoted group quickly blossomed into a thriving, diverse congregation, drawing people from all walks of life. But the path of this church, like many, hasn’t been without its trials. In 2017, Hurricane Harvey swept through Houston, leaving a trail of devastation in its wake. The New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church, located in the Kashmere Gardens neighborhood, found itself submerged under fourteen inches of floodwater. The damage was extensive, forcing the church to confront the difficult reality of rebuilding. Yet, even in the face of such adversity, the spirit of the New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church did not waver. Guided by their faith and the leadership of Bishop Williams, the congregation made the difficult decision to relocate, eventually finding a new home further north in Houston. The New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church stands today as a symbol of unwavering faith and the enduring strength found in community. It serves as a reminder that even in the face of immense challenges, hope can blossom anew, stronger and more vibrant than ever before.
