In 1924 a dream took root. Neve Yaakov a new Jewish village was born. It was a small oasis north of the Old City. Imagine 150 families settling this land. They purchased it from Arab neighbors in Beit Hanina. Their leader Rabbi Yitzchak Yaacov Reines inspired this community. Neve Yaakov meaning Jacob’s Oasis became a symbol of hope.
