Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s the spire of the Neuapostolische Kirche, spiraling upwards like an unfurling fern! The church, a modern marvel, stands as a testament to faith reborn. You see, the Neuapostolische community here in Brandenburg an der Havel has quite a story to tell. It all began at the turn of the 20th century, a fledgling congregation finding its wings. They worshipped in various spaces, temporary homes for a growing faith. Finally, in 1940, they found a haven, converting an old horse-trading hall into their very first church. As fate would have it, this first church nestled in the Packhofstraβe area had to be abandoned due to encroaching trees. But from the ashes of the old, the Neuapostolische Kirche we see today was born. Designed by architect Karin Reimann, this striking structure, with its elliptical shape resembling the Christian symbol of the fish, opened its doors in 2011. Notice how the soaring tower, topped with a simple metal cross, seems to pierce the heavens, a beacon of hope against the sky.
