Imagine Las Vegas without its dazzling neon signs. Unthinkable right? Welcome to the Neon Museum. This is no ordinary museum. It’s a vibrant graveyard for iconic signs. Here, these relics of Las Vegas’s past come to tell their stories.

Founded in 1996 the Neon Museum aimed to preserve these treasures. Dedicated individuals and organizations collaborated. They recognized the artistic and historical importance of these signs. Each sign embodies a unique story. It speaks of its creator, inspiration and role in shaping Las Vegas.

The Neon Museum campus features several distinct areas. The Neon Boneyard Main Collection is an outdoor exhibition space. It houses over 250 unrestored signs. These signs are illuminated with ground lighting. There are also 26 restored signs. These are always on, shining bright. Interestingly two of these the Riviera and Fitzgeralds were received in working condition.

The North Gallery showcases additional rescued signs. The Visitors’ Center itself is a piece of history. It’s housed inside the former La Concha Motel lobby. This distinctive shell-shaped building represents Googie architecture. Paul Revere Williams designed it. He was the first Black member of the American Institute of Architects. The La Concha lobby was saved from demolition in 2005. It was moved to its current location in 2006.

The Neon Boneyard is available for photo and video shoots. The museum is open seven days a week. However, hours vary by season.

The Neon Museum collection chronicles changes in sign design. It showcases technology from the 1930s to the present day. One-fourth of the collection comes from the Young Electric Sign Company YESCO boneyard.

In 2012, the Neon Museum officially opened. This marked the first time electrified signs became part of the permanent collection. The museum holds over 250 signs. Around 28 are electrified in the Neon Boneyard. Night tours provide the best viewing experience.

Several signs have been recently restored. These include the Lido de Paris sign and the Palms Casino Resort sign. Also, the Tropicana Las Vegas Casino Resort sign and the Flamingo Las Vegas Hotel Casino sign. In October 2024, the Debbie Reynolds Hollywood Hotel Casino sign was revived.

Notably, the Neon Museum acquired the Super Bowl LVIII sign in early 2025. This sign blends sports excitement with Las Vegas flair.

Tim Burton’s “Lost Vegas” exhibition was displayed here. The Neon Museum acquired four pieces and 40 prints. Two Burton signs remain on display. The Lost Vegas Sign Tower resembles a fading Dunes Hotel sign. The Neon Grid Wall features neon seahorses.

“Brilliant Jackpot” is an immersive audiovisual experience. It reanimates 40 vintage signs. Projection mapping illuminates unrestored signs. The experience transports guests into Las Vegas’ history. Music from famous entertainers accompanies the visuals.

The Las Vegas Luminaries mural pays tribute to diverse figures. These individuals helped shape Las Vegas’ cultural history.

The Las Vegas Signs Project installs restored signs in downtown Las Vegas. This project reintroduces neon to the heart of the city.

The Neon Museum has received numerous awards. It has earned consistent high ratings. It is recognized as one of the best museums in the United States.

The Neon Museum continues to collect and exhibit signs. It reclaims, restores and remembers Las Vegas’s vibrant past. It ensures the stories of these luminous landmarks live on.
