The story of the Needville Methodist Church Cemetery began in 1903, with the heart-wrenching loss of a child. The infant son of the church’s pastor, William Sievers, and his wife Alma, was laid to rest near the church building. This small act of remembrance marked the beginning of a cemetery that would eventually welcome generations of Needville residents.
By 1905, the cemetery expanded to receive children from the Busch and Kielman families. In 1907, the Zich family, too, chose this sacred ground to lay their loved ones to rest. Although the Methodist Church moved into the town of Needville in 1927, this plot, adjacent to the Needville Public Cemetery, continues to serve as the final resting place for members of the Methodist faith.
