Originally, Nea Smyrni Stadium could hold nearly 20,000 roaring fans, mostly standing on terraces. Imagine the electrifying atmosphere in 1974 when a record 20,950 people crammed in to witness a clash between Panionios FC and Panathinaikos FC. Nea Smyrni Stadium has seen its share of transformations. In the late 1990s, it transitioned to an all-seater stadium, reducing its capacity to the current 11,700. But its horseshoe shape, open at the northern end, still gives it a unique character. Over the years, Nea Smyrni Stadium has undergone renovations, adding a roof over the main west stand, a VIP lounge with a pitch view, and even a dedicated Panionios shop. While Nea Smyrni Stadium may not be the largest or most modern stadium, it holds a special place in the hearts of Panionios fans and the Nea Smyrni community.
