“Can I go again?” That’s what one city kid asked after experiencing the Nature Trek at the Bronx Zoo. This amazing attraction opened on July 4th weekend. It’s more than just a walk in the park.
The Nature Trek is a series of rope bridges, tunnels and wooden turrets. These structures are inspired by bird nests. As you walk along the bridges, they bounce and bob. This adds to the thrill and fun of the experience. The goal is simple. Elevate the fun by elevating you. And it certainly succeeds.
At the end of the Nature Trek, there’s a playground area. Here, you can build huts with massive tree branches. You can even paint with water. But the main attraction is undoubtedly the rope bridge trek. It’s easy to forget you’re in the Bronx. You might even forget you’re in a wildlife reserve.
The Nature Trek is included with the Bronx Zoo Admission ticket type. However, with a Limited Admission ticket, it costs an additional $7 per person. Stroller parking is required before entering this exhibit. Remember to self-park your stroller.
To fully enjoy the Bronx Zoo, consider the Total Experience ticket. It costs $36.95 for adults. For children over 2 years old, it’s $26.95. Seniors can enjoy it for $31.95. This ticket provides unlimited access to several attractions. Gorillas, butterflies, the carousel, and the 4-D theatre are all included. You also get access to Jungleworld, the Wild Asia Monorail, and the Zoo Shuttle.
You can bring your own food to the zoo. There are a few cafes open in the summer. But they mostly serve burgers and fries. For a delicious meal, visit nearby Arthur Avenue.
Getting to the Bronx Zoo by public transport is easy. Take the #2 train to Pelham Parkway or East 180th Street. Pelham Parkway takes you to the Bronx River Entrance. East 180th takes you to the Asia Entrance.
The Bronx Zoo is more than just a zoo. Watching ‘The Zoo’ on Animal Planet provides insight into its importance. It highlights the zoo’s vital wildlife work.
