Founded in 1963 as the National Institute for Training in Industrial Engineering, it later became the National Institute of Industrial Engineering. In 2023, it was granted a new title reflecting its prestige – the Indian Institute of Management Mumbai. This institute has always aimed to produce skilled professionals. It was established by the Indian government, supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the International Labour Organization (ILO).
