Established in 1925 Nathaniel Narbonne High School boasts a rich history. Its original location was in Lomita. It served grades 7 through 12. The building is now Alexander Fleming Middle School. Nathaniel Narbonne a sheep rancher owned much of the land. The school’s name honors him. In 1957 the school moved to its current location. This is at 24300 South Western Avenue in Harbor City. The new building featured a unique spiral design. It was quite innovative for its time. The school’s motto is Domus Victorum. This translates to Home of the Victors. Narbonne’s colors are green and gold. The mascot is the Gaucho. The Gaucho is often associated with Argentinian cowboys. The school’s fight song is Onward Narbonne a variation of On Wisconsin. Tragedy struck Narbonne in 1995. A student Shazeb Andleeb was killed. This event is even referenced in a song by Black Francis. Despite this hardship Narbonne thrives.
