The creek, normally a peaceful ribbon of water, swelled to an alarming 14.69 feet here at Rickenbacker Drive, its waters surging over the bridge and eroding its very foundation. The damage was so severe that the main center support beam of the bridge collapsed, rendering it impassable. The old bridge, a casualty of the flood’s fury, was replaced with the one you see today. This new bridge, stronger and built to withstand the unpredictable nature of Nancy Creek, serves as a reminder of the delicate balance between nature’s power and human resilience.
