The land rises gently from the banks of the Kotlovka River, a tributary of the mighty Moskva. It’s not a mountain range, but this subtle incline offers us some spectacular views. Imagine, on a clear day, you can spot both the Shukhov and Ostankino television towers from here. Nagorny wasn’t always bustling with life though. Up until the 1960s, this area was dominated by the peaceful Korobkov Gardens. As the city expanded, those tranquil gardens were slowly replaced by the houses and apartment blocks you see today. See those distinctive buildings over there? Those are classic examples of “Khrushchev” and “Brezhnev” era architecture, a tangible reminder of Moscow’s intriguing past. And, for those of you who enjoy a bit of winter fun, Nagorny boasts the KANT Ski Resort. Yes, you heard right, skiing in Moscow! The resort ingeniously utilizes the slopes carved out by the Kotlovka River, making the most of Nagorny’s unique topography.
