Myung Duk High School’s story began with a vision. The Ministry of Education approved its establishment on September 11, 1991. Soon after, on November 30, 1991, Su Myung Kwan, the school’s main building, was dedicated. Myung Duk High School officially opened on March 5, 1992. It welcomed 500 students who were selected for admission.

Initially, Myung Duk High School had ten classes. These classes focused on German, French, Japanese and Russian. Over time, the school adapted to changing needs. Today, Myung Duk Foreign Language High School offers a wider array of language majors. There are English, German, French, Japanese, Russian and Chinese majors.

Mr. Seungho Cho was the first principal. He was appointed on March 1, 1992. Since then, Myung Duk High School has seen several leaders. Mr. Jin Seung Lee became the 8th principal in 2019. Mr. Kyung Won Dang became the 9th principal in 2023.

Myung Duk Foreign Language High School emphasizes a well-rounded education. It provides diverse activities to enrich students’ learning. Math field trips and conferences challenge young minds. Track and field days promote physical activity and school spirit. The speech club cultivates eloquence and confidence.

Student-led clubs thrive at Myung Duk High School. In 2007, there were over 40 active clubs. Students shape these groups based on their passions.

Myung Duk Foreign Language High School also offers a Global Education Program. It prepares students for college education overseas. The program focuses on crucial skills. These include SAT preparation and college-level study habits.

Myung Duk Foreign Language High School has a proud history of graduates. By 2009, 7,447 students had graduated since 1995. In 2016, the total number of graduates exceeded 10,000. By 2023, the number reached over 12,108.
