In 1991, a dream began to take shape in Seoul’s Gang-seo District. This dream was the Myung Duk Foreign Language High School. The Ministry of Education approved its establishment that September. The main building, known as Su Myung Kwan, was dedicated just a few months later. Myung Duk Foreign Language High School officially opened its doors on March 5, 1992. Five hundred eager students formed the first classes. They focused on German, French, Japanese, and Russian. Myung Duk Foreign Language High School wasn’t content with just traditional language instruction. The school boasts a unique program called the Global Education Program (GEP). This program prepares students for college overseas. The curriculum includes SAT preparation, TOEFL, AP classes, and GPA management. It even incorporates internships, leadership programs, and community service. Myung Duk Foreign Language High School believes in a well-rounded education. Students aren’t just learning languages. They are also developing valuable life skills. By 2023, Myung Duk Foreign Language High School had seen over 12,000 students graduate. The school continues to nurture future global citizens. It provides them with the language skills and experiences needed to thrive in an interconnected world.
