The Museu Ferroviário de Lousado stands proudly in Vila Nova de Famalicão. It occupies the old workshops of the Companhia de Caminhos-de-Ferro de Guimarães. This company was active from 1880 to 1927. Today the Museu Ferroviário de Lousado is managed by the National Railway Museum Foundation. It is in partnership with Vila Nova de Famalicão Municipality.
These facilities are now a landmark of Portuguese industrial archaeology. This railway infrastructure once served the Guimarães and Minho lines. These lines had different gauges. One was metric and the other Iberian.
