MUSA isn’t your typical museum. It’s a place where science meets social justice. Founded in 2022 MUSA uses science to fight violence and protect human rights. It’s an offshoot of LABANOF the Laboratory of Anthropology and Forensic Odontology at the University of Milan. LABANOF’s twenty-five years of research and teaching form the foundation of MUSA.
The museum houses the LABANOF Anthropological Collection CAL. CAL is one of the world’s largest osteological collections. It boasts nearly ten thousand skeletons mostly from Milan and Lombardy. These skeletons span various historical periods. They offer invaluable insights into the lives and deaths of past Milanese. Think of the stories these bones could tell.
