Lost in the Bronx’s vibrant tapestry. That’s how I felt when I first saw Muller Triangle. A small unassuming park it might seem at first glance. But Muller Triangle holds a story. A legacy woven into the very fabric of this neighborhood.

Muller Triangle sits nestled between East Fordham Road Creston Avenue and East 190th Street. It’s a small park yes. But it’s a significant one. Named after Maurice Muller a local civic leader and philanthropist. He was a man who left an indelible mark on the Bronx. He opened the very first department store in this borough. Quite a feat.

Muller’s legacy isn’t just in bricks and mortar though. His contributions to the community extended far beyond commerce. He was deeply involved in the Bronx Lions Club. A testament to his commitment to service. The renaming of this small triangle to Muller Triangle in 1996 is a fitting tribute. It’s a way for the community to remember him. To remember his generosity his dedication.

Look closely. You’ll notice something unique. Several ginkgo trees stand tall within Muller Triangle. These aren’t just any trees. Ginkgos are ancient. They thrived during the Jurassic period millions of years ago. They are fascinating living fossils. And their presence adds an intriguing layer to Muller Triangle. Did you know ginkgos are also used in medicine? They are used to treat ailments like tinnitus and Alzheimer’s disease.

Muller Triangle may be small. It may be easily overlooked. But this little park tells a big story. It’s a tribute to a man. It’s a living testament to the rich history of the Bronx. It’s a reminder that even the smallest spaces can hold immense meaning. Take a moment to appreciate the quiet beauty of this little piece of the Bronx. Appreciate the legacy it carries within its borders. Appreciate the story it whispers to those who listen closely.
