That piqued your interest, didn’t it? Well, we’re standing right in Mulazzano, a charming town steeped in history. The name Mulazzano does indeed harken back to Roman times, derived from either “Mulatius” or “Mulacius” – a hint at the ancient roots that run deep beneath our feet.
Mulazzano wasn’t always a peaceful little town. It witnessed the ebb and flow of power during the Middle Ages, mirroring the fate of the nearby city of Lodi. Then came the 16th century, an era of shifting fortunes, when the noble Tassis family, powerful figures hailing from Naples but residing in Milan, acquired Mulazzano as their feudal domain. Yet, their reign wasn’t to last forever. In 1685, the reins of power shifted once more, transferring to the Magnani family.
But Mulazzano’s story doesn’t end there. It even felt the winds of change brought about by Napoleon himself. During his brief but impactful reign, Mulazzano’s borders expanded to encompass Cassino d’Alberi, Virolo, and Isola Balba. However, this union was not meant to be permanent. With the establishment of the Kingdom of Lombardo-Veneto, these villages reclaimed their independence, leaving Mulazzano to rediscover its own identity once again.
