Nestled at the foot of the Miyun Reservoir, Mujiayu Town whispers tales of a legendary heroine. Mujiayu, meaning “Mu Family’s Ravine,” is believed to be the homeland of Mu Guiying. She was a prominent figure in Chinese folklore during the Song Dynasty. Mujiayu in Miyun District, Beijing isn’t just a picturesque town. It’s a place where history intertwines with legend. In 2020, Mujiayu Town was home to over 23,000 people. Imagine this bustling community, connected by the Beijing-Chengde Expressway, the Beijing–Chengde railway, and China National Highway 101. Before it became the modern town we see today, Mujiayu went through several transformations. From 1965 to 1983, it was the Mujiayu People’s Commune within Miyun County. Then, from 1983 to 1987, it became Mujiayu District. It transitioned to Mujiayu Township from 1987 to 1993. Finally, in 1993, it officially became Mujiayu Town.
