Mt. Tabor Ame Church started from humble beginnings. A small group of only fourteen people gathered in a private home on Master Street to worship. This small beginning grew into a significant congregation.

The late Rev. Martha A. Lang played a crucial role in Mt. Tabor’s history. Juanita Bryant, president of the local Lay organization, credits Rev. Lang with moving the church from its small house on Master Street to its current location. People initially doubted her vision. Her loving spirit and faith brought people together. Ann Howard, a member since 1974 and a trustee for over three decades, has witnessed the church’s evolution. Rev. Lang’s tenure brought unmatched growth to Mt. Tabor.

The seed money to purchase the current building came from an unusual source. Members sold candy bars under Rev. Martha Lang’s leadership. This shows the church’s deep faith and belief in great things. Mt. Tabor is a loving church. Its members strive to show love to everyone.

In May 2014, the Rev. Albert Johnson became the pastor. He describes Mt. Tabor as a loving church steeped in faith. Rev. Johnson emphasizes that faith has guided Mt. Tabor every step of the way.

The Cyber Village is a senior living facility. The Love Food Kitchen provides free meals to those in need. Mt. Tabor also offers Bible studies and other engaging activities.

Looking ahead, Mt. Tabor aims to remain an anchor for the community. It seeks to provide support for both the affluent and less affluent. The church extends its ministry beyond its members. Mt. Tabor wants to be a beacon of light. It strives to ensure its ministries remain relevant to the times.
