Across the vibrant MSU Denver campus, lies a sporting gem. The MSU Denver Assembly Athletic Complex isn’t just a collection of fields and courts. It’s a testament to Roadrunner pride and a cornerstone of the university’s athletic legacy. Completed in 2015, this 24-million-dollar complex has become the home of champions. MSU Denver Roadrunners baseball, softball, soccer, and tennis teams all call this place home. The complex is a Division II marvel. It even rivals many Division I facilities, as confirmed by a 2019 feasibility study. The MSU Denver Assembly Athletic Complex also plays host to community events and youth sports leagues. It’s a hub of activity, connecting the university with the wider Denver community. In 2022, the complex underwent significant upgrades. The baseball and softball fields now boast AstroTurf’s Diamond Series RBI system. This state-of-the-art turf mimics the true bounce and speed of natural grass and clay. The fields now proudly display the Roadrunners logo in center field. “MSU Denver” and “Roadrunners” are emblazoned along the baselines. New LED stadium lights illuminate the fields, enhancing safety and creating a more electrifying game-day atmosphere. The soccer field also received an upgrade with AstroTurf’s Ligaturf Rootzone Blend. This provides superior traction and durability. Added padding beneath the turf helps protect athletes from high-impact injuries. The tennis courts at the MSU Denver Assembly Athletic Complex stand out with their vibrant school colors. The courts are a striking blue, bordered by bold red lines. This unique design reflects a recent trend in college tennis. The MSU Denver Assembly Athletic Complex has hosted several prestigious events. It was the proud venue for the 2016 NCAA Division II Spring Sports Festival, welcoming national championships in softball, men’s and women’s tennis, women’s lacrosse, and men’s and women’s golf. The complex also hosted the Division II Softball Championships in 2019, 2021, and 2022. The Cohen Center, a 20,000-square-foot building within the complex, provides top-notch facilities for student-athletes. It houses locker rooms, a state-of-the-art weight room, an athletic training room, a student-athlete lounge, and meeting rooms. The Roadrunners tennis teams inaugurated the complex in 2013. Soccer followed in 2014, and baseball and softball joined in 2015. Originally known as the Regency Athletic Complex, the facility was renamed the MSU Denver Assembly Athletic Complex in 2021. It stands as a shining example of the university’s commitment to athletic excellence and community engagement.
