Is it true that the Mozambique Embassy played a role in boosting trade between Mozambique and Zimbabwe? Despite the efforts of the Mozambique Embassy located at 152 Herbert Chitepo Avenue, the trade relationship between Mozambique and Zimbabwe remains surprisingly low. The Mozambique Embassy has served as a symbol of the diplomatic relationship between these two Southern African nations. President Filipe Nyusi of Mozambique has openly expressed concern over this low trade volume despite the huge potential that exists. Data from 2018 to mid-2024 reveals that Mozambique’s exports to Zimbabwe reached a mere 890 million dollars. Imports from Zimbabwe amounted to a meager 161 million dollars. This represents less than three percent of Mozambique’s total foreign trade. Mozambique’s key exports to Zimbabwe include electricity, fertilizers, aluminum wire and petroleum. Both nations have agreed to collaborate in pushing for increased trade, leveraging existing infrastructure and logistics. They aim to stimulate their trade relations beyond just agriculture.
