Among these founding members were Mrs. G. Blankenship, Mrs. H. Porter, Mrs. A. Fitzgerald, Mrs. L. Scott, Miss E. Blankenship, and Miss Jannie Harris. Guiding them were Rev. Joseph Scott, Dr. Charles Hampton, and Rev. Marvin C. Hines. The group voted to form a new church. They christened it Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Joseph Scott was chosen as the first pastor of Mount Olive Baptist Church. Today, Mount Olive Baptist Church remains a cornerstone of the community. It continues to serve as a spiritual home for many. Their mission remains to share the good news of Jesus Christ. They strive to equip disciples for ministry through evangelism, preaching, and teaching.
