“To God be the glory for all the things He has done.” These words echo in the sanctuary of the Mount Hebron Missionary Baptist Church, a proud testament to the unwavering faith that has anchored this community for over six decades. Standing before the Mount Hebron Baptist Church, you can almost feel the echoes of the past. Founded in 1958 by Rev. Johnnie J. Roberson, the church’s journey began in a humble setting—the garage of Rev. Roberson’s home. Despite the lack of grandeur, the church flourished. Within two years, the congregation grew from a mere sixteen members to a remarkable four hundred and fifty. This growth demanded a larger space, and so in 1961, they moved to a new sanctuary at 7721 Calhoun Road. This building served the church well but soon the need for expansion was felt again. By 1964, they added an extension to the sanctuary, followed by improvements that included pews, carpeting, and a new educational building. The Mount Hebron Baptist Church has always been a place where faith thrives, where community unites, and where the power of prayer resonates. It’s a sanctuary that has endured challenges yet always emerged stronger, fueled by the enduring spirit of its congregation. As we look at the Mount Hebron Baptist Church, it is more than just a building; it is a symbol of hope, a beacon of faith, and a testament to the indomitable spirit of those who have built and sustained it throughout the years. The Mount Hebron Baptist Church continues to be a source of strength and inspiration, spreading its message of love, hope, and faith far and wide.
