“Baile na Móna” the Irish name for Mooretown echoes through time. Today, we explore two distinct Mooretowns, each a unique townland in County Dublin. Our journey uncovers their stories.

Let’s start in the Electoral Division of Blanchardstown ED 1901. This Mooretown lies within the civil parish of Mulhuddart. It sits in the barony of Castleknock. This Mooretown was added to OpenStreetMap on August 12, 2015. Brianh marked its place on the digital map. At 54805th largest nationwide, this Mooretown is substantial. Within Dublin, it ranks as the 819th largest townland. It is located at 53° 25′ 14″ N, 6° 21′ 17″ W.

Now, we turn our attention to another Mooretown. This one resides in the Electoral Division of Swords West. It’s part of the civil parish of Swords. Its barony is Nethercross. Brianh added this Mooretown to OpenStreetMap earlier, on August 4, 2015. This Mooretown claims the 22526th spot nationwide. It holds the 212th position within County Dublin. It is located at 53° 27′ 55″ N, 6° 14′ 47″ W.

Interestingly, both Mooretowns share the same Irish name: Baile na Móna. This detail connects them. Yet, they exist as separate entities. Each Mooretown has its own story. They are shaped by unique locations and histories.

The Mooretown near Swords is undergoing significant development. The Mooretown and Oldtown Local Area Plan aims to create a new community. Gannon Homes Ltd. spearheads the Mooretown residential development. The first phase introduced 223 A-grade homes and a creche. This project aligns with Millers Glen in Oldtown. Both are accessible from Rathbeale Road in Swords. Waterman Group provided engineering services for the project. They collaborated with Conroy Crowe Kelly Architects and others. Earlier phases included a distributor road. This road serves a new school campus.

These Mooretowns show the layers of Irish history. From quiet townlands to modern development. They are linked by name. They are separated by geography and progress. As we reflect on Mooretown, consider the echoes of “Baile na Móna.” Think about the stories embedded in these Dublin townlands. They are still unfolding today.
