What if traditional schooling could be reinvented? Right here at the Montessori-Schule Hannover, that very question has shaped young minds since 2006. This isn’t just any school. It’s a vibrant hub where Montessori principles come alive, fostering a love for learning that extends from the primary years all the way to graduation. The Montessori-Schule Hannover began as a dream of parents. In 2005, they formed the Montessori Bildungshaus Hannover e.V., a dedicated group determined to bring Maria Montessori’s philosophy to Hannover. Their vision started small, with a kindergarten in the Heideviertel and primary school classes nestled within the Grundschule am Lünebger Damm. The Montessori-Schule Hannover truly found its home in 2011. The association acquired the former Grundschule Bonner Straße building. Parents poured their hearts and even their own labor into renovating the school, transforming it into the space you see today. The school expanded to include a secondary level in the 2016/17 school year, offering a full Montessori education. This milestone was followed by the establishment of a separate upper school location in Hannover’s Südstadt in 2019. The first graduating class celebrated their accomplishments that same year, marking a significant moment for the Montessori-Schule Hannover. Today, this institution thrives as the largest parent-run educational facility in Hannover, a testament to the community’s dedication to innovative education. This very school is one of just eleven Montessori high schools and comprehensive schools in Germany that fully embrace the Montessori pedagogy. It isn’t merely an added element, but the core of their educational approach, shaping the entire upper school experience.
