How long has this bustling place been a part of Malmö’s fabric? You might be surprised to learn that Mobilia has been a fixture here since 1968. One of the city’s oldest shopping centers, Mobilia, pulsates with life and history.

Before its days as a shopping haven, Mobilia housed a textile factory. The original buildings, dating back to 1899, once echoed with the clatter of looms and the industry of textile workers. Imagine those hardworking souls, predominantly women, weaving their magic in the large halls.

In the 1960s, visionary developers saw a new future for the site. Mobilia was born, transforming from a place of industry to a center of commerce. Its doors first opened as a dedicated furniture store. Just a year later, in 1968, it expanded into the Mobilia Center. It boasted twelve diverse departments, including the Reveny supermarket. At the time, Reveny was hailed as Europe’s largest food hall – a testament to Mobilia’s ambition and scale. The northern section of Mobilia embraced the retail evolution in 1973, further solidifying its place in Malmö’s heart.

Mobilia’s story isn’t just one of transformation, but of continuous evolution. It has undergone significant renovations and expansions, including a major revamp in 2013. This commitment to growth ensures it remains a vibrant reflection of Malmö’s ever-changing spirit. Today, this Malmö landmark, with over a hundred stores across six buildings, thrives as a testament to the city’s heritage and progress. As you wander its halls, you’re not just browsing goods. You’re experiencing over a century of Malmö’s history.
