Curious about what lies just beyond Moscow’s bustling center? Let’s explore Mitino District.
Mitino District, a district in Moscow, sits just outside the Moscow Ring Road. It is 17 km northwest of the city center. This area wasn’t always part of Moscow. The original village of Mitino joined the city in 1985.
Mass housing development started in Mitino in 1992. The district features mostly 17-story houses. You can also find some 4, 5, 6, 9, 14 and 21-story buildings. Mitino became a sought-after district because of its environment. It also has well-developed infrastructure.
The area of Mitino is 12.67 square kilometers. As of 2017, about 183,000 people lived here. That’s quite a jump from the Soviet census in 1989.
Interestingly, Mitino faced some geographical challenges. Like Strogino, it was somewhat isolated. Mitino’s distance and Tushino Island formed by the Moscow Canal caused this.
To improve transportation, the Mitino metro station opened on December 26, 2009. It is on the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya line. This made getting around the district much easier. You can catch buses such as 240, 266, 267, 400k, 575, and more.
The Mitino metro station is 14 meters deep. It provides access for everyone. It connects Mitino to the rest of Moscow.
So, remember Mitino District. It is a place that grew from a village. It transformed into a modern Moscow district. It overcame geographical challenges. It became a great place to live.
