Let’s journey back to June 16 1925. In Oruro Bolivia Nazaria Ignacia March Mesa founded this congregation. Nazaria felt a calling to evangelize. She wanted to serve the poor. Her work began with the name Misioneras de la Cruzada Pontificia. Later it became Misioneras Cruzadas de la Iglesia.
Nazaria Ignacia was born in Madrid in 1889. She dedicated her life to spreading the Gospel. She served those in need. The Misioneras Cruzadas de la Iglesia embody her spirit. Their mission focuses on four pillars. These are the Kingdom of God, love for the Church unity and universal outreach.
The Misioneras Cruzadas de la Iglesia actively engage in evangelization. They work in rural areas. They serve in marginalized urban communities. Their work extends across 21 countries. They carry a message of love and service.
In Spain the Misioneras Cruzadas de la Iglesia have been tireless. They responded to pressing social needs. Nazaria Ignacia visited the Carmelites. This was at the Cerro de los Ángeles. She entrusted her Spanish foundation. It was to be under the protection of the Sacred Heart.
Here at the Curia General located on Calle Madre Nazaria 3 in Madrid the Misioneras Cruzadas de la Iglesia coordinate their global efforts. From this location they support their sisters. In 2011 the congregation numbered 379 religious members. They operated in 79 communities. Their presence spanned Argentina Bolivia Brazil Cameroon Chile and Colombia. Cuba El Salvador Spain France Guatemala and Equatorial Guinea were also included. They are also present in Honduras India Italy Mexico Nicaragua Peru Portugal Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uruguay.
The Misioneras Cruzadas de la Iglesia celebrated a significant milestone recently. In 2024 they marked the centennial of their founding. A special Eucharist was held in Carabanchel. This highlighted their 100 years of service.
In Cubas de la Sagra four Misioneras live. They are between 70 and 90 years old. A lay person helps them. This person manages the retreat house. A family also assists with household tasks.
