Perched right here along the Nacional 108 is the Miradouro de Sebolido. This spot belongs to the municipality of Penafiel. It offers more than just a view. It gives us a panoramic spectacle of the Douro River.
It is said that this place was discovered by chance. Maria Jou00e3o spotted a sign. She urged her mother to stop the car because it seemed to have a beautiful landscape.
And just like that, they discovered the Miradouro de Sebolido. They then contemplated the beautiful views of the Douro River. The place is split into two parts.
One part is elevated above the road. You need to climb some steps. You will find a balcony with a small wall around it. The river flows in a valley embraced by nature. There is even a stone bench inviting you to sit and appreciate the scenery.
If you go down to the road level, you will see another staircase. It is protected by railings. This leads to another balcony. You will see almost the same view. But here, you can spot some waterfalls to the left.
The Miradouro de Sebolido is located on a small natural hill. It is protected by railings. You will have to travel the road that connects Porto to Entre-os-Rios to find it. There is parking nearby. You can park your car and walk to the viewpoint.
Close to the Miradouro de Sebolido is the Engenho do azeite de Sebolido. You will find it at the beginning of a small route. Also nearby is the PR2 PNF-GDM Terra da Apicultura. It is a small route of just over 7.5 km. It runs along the northern slope of the Mau River valley. You can also hike the Trilho dos moinhos in Cabroelo. Descend along the Mau River to the waterfalls. Another option is the Trilho do Mineiro. It offers beautiful landscapes. It exhibits a series of vestiges.
