Oral tradition says fishermen from Arguamul found the image of Santa Clara on Santa Catalina Beach in Hermigua. They decided to build a chapel for her in Chijeré.
The Santa Clara chapel stood there for years. However, the constant winds damaged the structure. So they built a new chapel in Teselinte. This location is more sheltered on the mountain. This is where we find it now near the Mirador de Santa Clara.
