In 1932, amidst the shifting sands of time, the Ministry of Finance in Saudi Arabia emerged. It rose not from the desert itself, but from the growing need for a structured financial system. The Ministry of Finance wasn’t always the grand institution it is today. It began as a humble directorate in 1927. Initially, it was the General Directorate of Finance, managing the financial affairs of the Kingdom of Hejaz. It officially became the Ministry of Finance in 1932. This makes it the second oldest ministry in Saudi Arabia, right after the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Ministry of Finance’s initial mandate was clear: regulate, manage, and secure the collection of state funds. It also oversaw expenditures. Over the years, the Ministry of Finance has seen several transformations and name changes. It even merged with the Ministry of Economy for a period. Today, the Ministry of Finance stands as a cornerstone of the Saudi Arabian economy. It plays a critical role in controlling state expenditure and shaping financial policies. Mohammed Al-Jadaan has led the ministry since 2016. He steers the financial ship of Saudi Arabia. The Ministry of Finance is not just about numbers and budgets. It’s about the financial well-being of a nation. It’s about building a stable and prosperous future for Saudi Arabia.
