Since its establishment alongside the newly reformed state in 1990, the Ministerium für Soziales, Gesundheit, Integration und Verbraucherschutz des Landes Brandenburg has undergone several transformations. It has grappled with shifting social landscapes and evolving needs. Initially encompassing a wider range of responsibilities including labor and women’s affairs, the ministry has seen its focus honed over time. In 2019, “Arbeit”, or labor, was moved to the economic ministry, reflecting a changing political landscape. Yet the core mission remains: to ensure a safety net for the vulnerable, to foster integration, and to champion public health. The weight of these tasks is tangible in these very walls. Within these walls, policies are debated and decisions are made that have a direct impact on the lives of millions.
