A whistle blows. It’s the sound of Minami-Shisui Station. A humble station it is. But its history is rich.

Minami-Shisui Station serves the town of Shisui Chiba Prefecture. It’s operated by the East Japan Railway Company. This unassuming station opened September 10 1914. It was a busy place then. Both passengers and freight traveled through here.

The Japanese Government Railway ran the station. After World War II it became part of the Japan National Railways. Freight trains stopped running in 1962. The station got a new building in 1980. Privatization of the Japan National Railways happened in 1987. Minami-Shisui Station became part of the JR East network. The waiting room got a refresh in 2008.

The station has a single island platform. It’s connected to the station building by a footbridge. The platforms are short. They only fit eight-carriage trains. The station is unstaffed now. Quiet and peaceful.

In 2006 an average of 208 passengers used the station daily. Imagine their stories. Their journeys. Each one unique. Each one woven into the fabric of this small station’s life.

Near the station are the Iinuma Honke Corporation and the Shisui Premium Outlet Mall. They are bustling places. Full of life. A contrast to the quiet calm of Minami-Shisui Station.

This station is more than just a stop on a line. It’s a quiet witness to history. It is a silent observer of countless lives. It is Minami-Shisui Station. A place of quiet dignity. A place of quiet stories.
