Messiah Baptist Church started in 1955. Tommy Moore and his wife started it in a home’s basement. The location changed. The name evolved. Yet, the mission remained constant. It aimed to save souls. It aimed to change lives. It did so through preaching God’s Word.
Tommy Moore was quite a character. He began preaching at 17. He was offered a management position. But God called him to preach. Moore started churches around Denver. His ministry even reached across the globe. He founded Save A Child, Inc. He and his wife were trying to save the world.
Karrie Glover followed Moore’s ministry. She appreciated his storytelling. He taught history within his sermons. Moore even survived two heart attacks. He claimed to have visited the Celestial City. After his first heart attack in 2006, he was back preaching.
William Ingram took over as pastor. This occurred after Moore’s first heart attack. In May 2009, the church voted for Ingram. He had been acting pastor for two years. Ingram preaches with enthusiasm. Messiah Baptist Church has been known for it since 1955.
Messiah Baptist Church offers various ministries. There are ministries for adults and youth. There are also children’s programs. A bus ministry provides transportation. Reformers Unanimous helps with overcoming habits. The church offers discipleship classes. Denver Bible Institute enhances scriptural knowledge. A food bank aids the community.
Mrs. Moore passed away in 2011. She served her Savior and husband faithfully. She embodied a true Christian lady. She is missed by those who knew her.
Services at Messiah Baptist Church include Sunday school. This is for all ages. Sunday morning preaching follows. Sunday evening preaching concludes the day. Wednesday features Bible study and prayer meetings.
