Step into a world where art and technology intertwine. Welcome to Mercer Labs a unique museum in New York City. Located in part of the former Century 21 building Mercer Labs is the brainchild of artist Roy Nachum. He partnered with his wife Maia Nachum and a team of artists architects and creators. Roy Nachum is best known for his Grammy-nominated album cover art for Rihanna’s 2016 album Anti. He has also created installations for LeBron James and New York City Mayor Eric Adams.

Mercer Labs opened in February 2024. It features Roy Nachum’s inaugural exhibition Limitless. This collection of 15 immersive exhibits blends infinite LED landscapes enormous doves and puffy pink caverns. Imagine kaleidoscoping patterns and otherworldly mergers of art and technology. It truly is a feast for the senses.

One exhibit encourages visitors to scan their crayon creations into a 3D virtual forest. Your drawings will frolic alongside other guests’ creations. Another room features a ball pit with an illuminated slide. It’s a playground for adults and children alike. The museum aims to break down barriers between the observer and the artwork. It challenges perceptions and shifts psychological frames.

In a particularly striking exhibit Roy Nachum explores the theme of blindness. He had previously blindfolded himself for a week to interview blind individuals. This experience heavily influenced his work. In the exhibit visitors wear blindfolds. They are immersed in bass white noise ethereal melodies and vibrations. These sensory experiences create non-visual shapes in your mind.

Mercer Labs is more than just a museum. It’s an experience. It’s a journey into the limitless possibilities of art technology and imagination. It’s located at 21 Dey Street in the Financial District. So step inside and let your senses be awakened. Experience the magic of Mercer Labs for yourself. Let your inner child run free among the vibrant colors and sounds. Leave with memories that will last a lifetime.
