Today, there are six Forest Lawn locations in Southern California. Each park reflects Eaton’s vision. They offer themed areas and landscaped settings. Sculpture and memorial architecture are everywhere. These features create an uplifting atmosphere. It’s designed for joyous remembrance.
Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hollywood Hills opened in 1952. It sits on land with a rich history. The area was once known as Lasky Ranch. This ranch served as a film location for many movies. Charlie Chaplin even filmed some of his early comedies here.
Walking through Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills, you’ll discover unique features. The Court of Liberty showcases statues of George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. Here, the Birth of Liberty mosaic stuns visitors. It is the largest historical mosaic in the United States. Ten million pieces of Venetian glass depict scenes from early America.
You can also visit the Old North Church. It is a replica of Boston’s historic church. Inside, you’ll find documents and mementos from the colonial period.
The Hall of Liberty American History Museum holds a copy of the Liberty Bell. It features other exhibits. The museum also has a 1,200-seat auditorium.
Don’t miss the Lincoln Terrace. A 16-foot bronze statue of Abraham Lincoln stands here. A panoramic mosaic depicts key scenes from Lincoln’s life.
