Meclis Parki isn’t just a park. It’s a living testament to Ankara’s history. Officially called Milli Egemenlik Parki it’s better known as Meclis Parki. This is because it surrounds the grounds of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.
Opened on April 23 1986 the park’s inauguration coincided with National Sovereignty and Children’s Day. Children from around the world participated in the grand opening. The event featured numerous activities and concerts. Plants and trees from various countries were planted to mark the occasion.
