For almost three decades Masjid AQSA-SALAM has been a beacon. It brought together diverse Muslim communities primarily of West African descent. It became a vital center in Harlem. Especially in the area known as Little Africa. This is a neighborhood around West 116th Street.
More than just a place of prayer Masjid AQSA-SALAM served as a community center. It provided essential services. It fostered a sense of belonging for many immigrants. They found guidance. They received support. It helped them navigate life in America.

Imam Konate Souleymane has been a driving force. He champions interfaith dialogue. He promotes understanding. The community has received widespread recognition for its moderate approach.
