Did you know that the Masjid Mughaisilah is also known as the Bani Dinar Mosque? This Medina mosque stands as a testament to a significant chapter in Islamic history. Its story is one of faith, healing and the enduring legacy of the Prophet Muhammad.

The Masjid Mughaisilah earned its name from its location. It stands where the tribe of Bani Dinar once lived. This area holds a special connection to Abu Bakr as-Siddiq. He was a close companion of the Prophet.

Abu Bakr fell ill while staying with his wife. She was a member of the Bani Dinar tribe. During this time the Prophet Muhammad would visit Abu Bakr. He increased his prayers for his friend’s recovery. The Masjid Mughaisilah was later erected on the very spot where the Prophet prayed. This makes it a sacred place for Muslims.

Umar Ibn ‘Abd al-Aziz oversaw the construction of the first building on this site. This took place between 86 and 91 AH. Umar recognized the importance of preserving places where the Prophet had prayed. He built many Masajid at such locations. His actions reflect a deep understanding of Islamic history.

The Masjid Mughaisilah itself is quite small. It measures about 10 square meters. Its modest size adds to its intimacy. It allows worshippers to feel a close connection to the events that transpired here. The mosque is approximately one kilometer away from the Prophet’s Mosque.

Some Muslims question the practice of offering Salaat at such Masaajid. They see it as Bid’at or innovation. However, such concerns are unfounded. Umar Bin Abdul Aziz built many Masajid at locations where the Prophet Muhammad prayed. He was a wise leader.

Abdullah Bin Umar also remembered these locations. Whenever he passed by such an area he would offer Salaat on that soil. His actions demonstrate the importance of remembering and honoring the Prophet’s footsteps.

According to a Hadith by Bibi Aa’isha, no one followed the Prophet Muhammad’s example more closely than Abdullah Bin Umar. He meticulously remembered and replicated the Prophet’s actions. The Masjid Mughaisilah stands as a reminder of this devotion.

The premises of Masjid Mughaisilah cover about 90 square meters. This includes the surrounding area. It provides space for worshippers to reflect and pray.

Visiting the Masjid Mughaisilah offers a unique opportunity. It allows one to connect with the early days of Islam. It allows visitors to reflect on the Prophet’s prayers for his friend. It stands as a reminder of faith. It stands as a symbol of healing. The Masjid Mughaisilah embodies the rich history of Medina.
