“Mosque of devotion”. That’s what Masjid al-Ikhlas means in Arabic. But this Masjid al-Ikhlas isn’t in an Arabic-speaking country. It is located in Batam, Indonesia. Let’s uncover its story.

Masjid al-Ikhlas is more than just a place for prayer. It is a center for the Muslim community. The Masjid al-Ikhlas stands as a testament to faith. It also represents community spirit in Batam Kota.

Though reviews are scarce, Masjid al-Ikhlas has a strong presence. It is located on Jalan Abulyatama. This makes it accessible to worshippers. The exact address is 435Q+MV3, Perum. Masyeba Kirana, Belian.

Founded in 1992, Masjid al-Ikhlas started small. It began in a warehouse. This shows the community’s determination. They transformed a simple space into a spiritual home.

Salahuddin Mustafa Muhammad leads the congregation. He serves as the imam of Masjid al-Ikhlas. His leadership guides the community. He fosters devotion within its walls.

In 2005, Masjid al-Ikhlas faced a challenge. Its growing membership strained its capacity. With only 50 initial families, it expanded rapidly to almost 500 members. To address this, an expansion project was initiated.

The expansion aimed to double the mosque’s size. It would reach 6,750 square feet. A large dome was planned. It would be based on a mold from Masjid Al-Noor. Donations from members and the community funded the project. This showed their commitment to their faith.

However, Masjid al-Ikhlas faced an unexpected challenge in 2009. It gained national attention. Four men linked to the Bronx terrorism plot had attended the mosque. This plot involved shooting down military planes. It also included bombing synagogues.

An FBI informant, Shahed Hussain, frequented Masjid al-Ikhlas. He spoke of jihad and violence. Some members suspected him. But no one reported him to the authorities.

Despite these challenges, Masjid al-Ikhlas remains a place of worship. It stands as a symbol of faith. It represents community resilience. It offers daily prayers. These prayers connect worshippers. They happen at 11:39, 11:49, 13:06, 19:09 and 22:26.
